Labour Day has past, the days are getting shorter and the mornings are getting cooler. You know what this means. The short summer season is coming to an end. It was a summer staycation for us this year, which gave us the chance to experience city life that you wouldn't normally get to experience when you're doing the Mon-Fri 9-5 rat race. One of my favourite things: mid-week brunch! Sans line-ups and 100% hassle free! What a concept!
One fine sunny day, we took les vélos over to brunch in Leslieville, where we met up with our friend Lady J (no relation to SerialJay), who rode her super fierce Aquila mountain bike. Now I must explain that Lady J is a consummate Driver, with a capital D. The fact that she took her bicycle across the city for our brunch date was monumental. Vas-y Lady J!

Oh yes, brunch was absolumment fabuleux and I say that sans ironie. (Much better than a previous visit--on a Sunday). Lady J and I have the quiche lorraine, with its perfectly fondant eggs. And all I remember about SerialJay's meal is that he had the pear tart and did not save any for me.
